Citizens Bank Protest

Today, I attended a protest outside of Citizens Bank in Burlington due to its financing of CoreCivic and The GEO Group. These are two of the largest prison companies and leading operators of for-profit ICE detention centers.

I have so many questions:

  • Why do we need for-profit prisons?

  • Why is due process being ignored?

  • What if the federal government spent all the money being spent on ICE to fund courts, judges and attorneys to legally review cases?

  • How is it possible in 2026 that the United States has detention centers holding human beings?
