amy bielawski-branchMy Decision Making
With each and every decision I make on behalf of my constituents, I will consider the following:
-
Can the state afford it AND can each of us as individuals and families afford it?
Will it reduce the burdensome cost of housing, gas, food, healthcare, and childcare?
-
WE NEED MORE HOUSING - All kinds of housing!
We desperately need housing for people who are currently unhoused.
WE ALSO NEED housing for young families, retirees and people moving here to work in our hospitals and schools.
-
Does it support people in accessing medical, mental health and substance use disorder treatment?
Will it bring the cost of health care down?
Will it support additional high quality medical providers being able to practice in Vermont?
-
Will it contribute to climate change or help to mitigate it?
What will it mean for our beloved Lake Champlain and all the other bodies of water that flow through our city and state?
Will it impact our air quality?
-
Will families be better off?
Do our children have access to healthy food, a good education and a safe place to sleep at night?
Does it bring joy and hope to families’ lives?
-
Are my neighbors’ lives better off?
Is this decision just, equitable and fair?
Is it inclusive and compassionate?
Community Connections
I will seek to represent Chittenden-18 residents at a local, state and national level:
-
We need a greater sense of affordability and safety right here in the New North End.
We need more mental health and substance abuse treatment options available - with reasonable health care costs!
We need safe and accessible transportation for our residents who walk, bike, take the bus and drive.
We need affordable housing and an increase in all housing options.
We need community building events so our neighbors can enjoy and get to know each other better.
-
I will strive to work for real solutions that will keep our Great Little State of Vermont special and unique for generations to come.
Some of the key things I will focus on are:
Climate Change - We need to continue to find and fund innovative ways to reduce Vermont's environmental footprint and to mitigate the impact of climate change on our state.
Financial Challenges – We need to remain AFFORDABLE. Vermonter's need to be able to live and thrive here.
Infrastructure - We need fast and affordable high-speed internet access, reliable and affordable public transportation, safe roads and bridges, and up-to-date water and power systems.
Education - We need affordable and high-quality education for our children
Housing, Housing, Housing
Health Care, Health Care, Health Care
-
The United States declared its independence 250 years ago - something worthy of celebration!
And reflection . . . Vermont has a long tradition of being a national leader by taking a bold stance for democratic values and progressive ideals.
I intend to follow that long tradition through:
Resisting the creep of Fascism
Stopping the immoral and illegal actions of ICE
Defending our Constitution
