I am running for the Vermont House of Representatives for many reasons, but the top two include:
Lowering health care costs while increasing health care access and standing up for Vermonters in the face of the Trump administration's extremist agenda.
See my video explaining these details in a bit more detail (less than 2 minutes long):

Steven Tendo (an immigrant from Uganda seeking asylum in Vermont) was NOT deported today.
I attended the vigil outside of the St. Albans Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office (AKA: ICE) today in support of Steven. He had been told to bring his passport and expect detention and possible deportation. Fortunately, that did not happen. He is due to report back in August.

Today, I attended a protest outside of Citizens Bank in Burlington due to its financing of CoreCivic and The GEO Group. These are two of the largest prison companies and leading operators of for-profit ICE detention centers.
I have so many questions:
Why do we need for-profit prisons?
Why is due process being ignored?
What if the federal government spent all the money being spent on ICE to fund courts, judges and attorneys to legally review cases?
How is it possible in 2026 that the United States has detention centers holding human beings?
