AMY Bielawski-branchI have lived in Burlington for over 25 years and in the New North End for the last 15 years.
I love my neighborhood . . . riding my bike on the bike path . . . eating french toast at Butter on a weekend morning . . . popping into Ace Hardware to pick up a much needed item . . . attending an NPA (Neighborhood Planning Assembly) meeting . . . watching the sunset at Leddy Beach . . . sitting on my front porch drinking tea while watching neighbors stroll by . . . meandering in the woods off of Starr Farm Road . . . and catching up on the news from Front Porch Forum.
Burlington is one of my favorite places in the whole world!

AMY BB FOR BTVMy Family
Karen and I met when we both worked at Spectrum Youth and Family Services in the early ‘90’s. We like to say we were married three times - The first time in 1995 in our backyard in Monkton, joined by family and friends.
The second time (2000), we were joined in a civil union by a justice of the peace in our living room. This was after the passage of Vermont’s landmark Baker v. Vermont Supreme Court ruling in favor of civil unions.
The third time (2009) was shortly after Vermont became the first state to legalize same sex marriage through legislation rather than a court ruling.
In 1996, the Vermont legislature passed a law officially ensuring adoption rights for same-sex couples. Shortly after this, Karen and I became the proud parents of Michael and Libby.
The four of us are pictured here after cutting down a Christmas tree at White’s Tree Farm in Essex a few years ago.
To say that the Vermont Legislature literally allowed our family to be a family is an understatement - representatives of that body secured our right to marriage and to parenthood!!
I would love the opportunity to give back by serving in the Vermont House of Representatives.
